Ryan McHugh nominated for Player of the Week

Ryan McHughg has been nominated for Player of the Week for his performance against Tyrone in Sunday’s Ulster semi-final.

The Kilcar native was once again an integral part of the Donegal side and turned over possession a number of times for his side in Celtic Park.

The 30-year-old went for points twice and while they didn’t end up going over the bar, the first resulted in Shane O’Donnell winning a free which Oisin Gallen converted, while the second effort fell to Brendan McCole who kicked the equalising point in added time.

Armagh’s Rian O’Neill and Louth man Conor Grimes are the other two players up for the accolade.

O’Neill was an inspirational figure for Armagh against Down in the other Ulster semi-final at St Tiernach’s Park on Saturday. When Armagh required scores and leadership, O’Neill delivered with three points.

Conor Grimes contributed a dynamic display against Kildare in the Leinster SFC semi-final at Croke Park. Grimes landed two points from play and helped to create other scores for his colleagues.

McHugh follows on from Dáire Ó Baoill who was named the Player of the Week last week following his super performance against Derry in the quarter-finals.
