THE cast of the hugely popular comedy shows CU Burn and Barney Bunion will reunite for a hilarious new drama production at Scioból a Phobail in Anagaire tomorrow night.
Biseach, set in a hospital ward in Letterkenny, tells the story of a man seeking to fraudulently claim compensation from the driver who knocked him down.
After locating the man, they agree on a settlement outside of the courts.
The man naively signs a contract, believing it will allow him to scam a large lump sum from the guilty driver.
However, much like the chaotic antics of undertakers Charlie and Vincie Burn from CU Burn, things are not as simple as they seem.
The production features a talented cast of nine local actors, who have been busy rehearsing for the past two months.
Among them is Bernard Ó Duibheannaigh, known for his role as Barney Bunion in the TG4 comedy series.
Bernard is also directing Biseach, and he spoke with the Donegal News about the exciting new project, expressing his delight at having so many well-known actors involved.
Included in the cast is Niall Mac Eamharcaigh, who plays John Joe Daly in Ros na Rún. Niall is also the writer of the witty script for Biseach, which he penned over 30 years ago.
Also taking to the stage is Aodh Óg Ó Duibheannaigh, who played Charlie Burn in the cult comedy show CU Burn.
This will be the first production hosted at Scioból a Phobail in Anagaire, marking the start of a broader initiative to encourage drama and foster creativity within the local community.
By staging this play, Bernard hopes to showcase the wealth of local talent and inspire younger generations to get involved too.
“There’s nothing to say they won’t end up on TG4 someday too,” he added.
Looking ahead, Scioból a Phobail also hopes to offer children’s drama classes at the community centre in the future.
Doors open at 7.30pm on Friday, May 9, with live music before the performance.
