Harps suffer first defeat of the season against Sligo

Sligo Rovers 1-0 Finn Harps

FINN Harps were left to rue a costly goalkeeping error as they suffered their first defeat of the season against Sligo Rovers at the Showgrounds this evening.

The first half was a scrappy affair with little in the way of clear-cut chances.

Romeo Parkes went closest to scoring but was denied by a great save from Mark Anthony McGinley.

HT: Sligo 0-0 Harps

Sligo took the lead in the 51st minute when substitute Johnny Kenny stole the ball off McGinley and had the simple task of finishing into the empty net.

Harps came under heavy pressure midway through the second half and McGinley had to make three good saves in quick succession.

Ollie Horgan made five subs to try and bring his team back into the match but they never really looked like scoring and had to settle for defeat. The Ballybofey men are back in action on Tuesday night when they travel to face Longford Town.
