Gaza graffiti sparks debate and concern

THE Cathaoirleach of Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District Council has called on the perpetrators of a wave of Gaza-related graffiti around the town to show restraint and “have a think about” what they are doing as it could be counter-productive.

Cllr. Gerry McMonagle’s comments come following a weekend that saw many residents being shocked on Sunday morning to discover that numerous acts of graffiti had emerged overnight on hoardings and on the back of road signs around the town.

Meanwhile, early on Sunday morning, at least 31 Palestinians were killed and hundreds more were injured while heading to an Israeli-controlled aid distribution site.

While the suffering and plight of the people in Gaza is universally acknowledged in Letterkenny, the use of indiscriminate graffiti in such a stark fashion has angered and disappointed many.
