An Garda Siochana WEB

A SOUTH WEST Donegal pensioner has been left in an extremely distressed state after his home was robbed and he was beaten yesterday evening.

The latest incident happened between 6pm and 7.30pm on the Station Road in Glenties, only two days after a large meeting to discuss crime in the county attracted 1,500 plus members of the public to Manorcunningham Resource Centre.

Gardaí in Glenties are now investigating the matter and are appealing to anyone in the area that may have information which could assist them in their inquiries to contact Glenties Garda Station on Tel 07595 51080.

This is not the first time the elderly man has been targeted. Brian Carr, Glenties Community Action Group, told Highland Radio this morning the pensioner returned home one evening at Christmas to find raiders exiting his home as he was being dropped off by a taxi. An Garda Siochána are investigating.
