ELECTION 2024: ‘Hard work paying dividends’ – Naughton

Cllr Michael Naughton wore a broad smile in the Aura Leisure Centre in Letterkenny as the tally figures put him on track to retain his seat in the Donegal Municipal district.

The Fianna Fáil councillor looks set to come in just under the quota which is predicted to be 1,937, with the tallies predicting Naughton will pick up 1,817.

It’s a wonderful performance from Cllr Naughton who said he picked up votes everywhere from Bundoran to Glencolmcille which he said was reward for his hard work during the last council term.

There are six seats up for grabs in this electoral area and it promises to be another close battle.

Noel Jordan, going by the tallies, will poll 1,538 votes while Michael McMahon (1,358), Jimmy Brogan (1,335) Pauric Kennedy (1,310) and Manus Boyle (1,278).

Niamh Kennedy also polled well at 1,096 but once the count gets going tomorrow, transfers are going to be key.
