FOUR projects in the Letterkenny Electoral Area are to receive €34,500 in funding under the Built Heritage Jobs Leverage Scheme that aims to conserve and repair protected structures.
Labour local election candidate, Christy Galligan, has welcomed the news announced today.
“We are lucky in Letterkenny Electoral Area to be blessed with many beautiful historic structures, and now this funding means that vital conservation work can proceed on certain protected buildings in the locality.
“It includes €12,000 in repairs for the Conwal Parish Church; €2,500 for Fort Stewart, Killydonnell, Ramelton; €10,000 for Whitehill House, Gartan; and €10,000 for Aghnagaddy House, Ramelton.
“The allocation announced today will be accompanied by private funding. The local projects will support jobs in the conservation and construction sectors locally.
They will help to preserve our local heritage and promote Letterkenny’s physical infrastructure and attractiveness as a tourist location,” Galligan added.
