On Sunday, March 30, at 10.30pm the twelfth season of RTÉ Two television’s Other Voices kicks off and it features three acts which will be of great interest to Donegal viewers.

Featuring in the opening programme will be none other than one of the Irish stars of the future Rosie Carney from Downings.

The 16-year-old, who recently signed to major label Polydor, has caused huge waves in the Irish music industry and since signing has spent a lot of time in Los Angeles working with songwriters on her original material.

Rosie is good friends with another great act from North Donegal, In Their Thousands, who have taken her with as support act all over the country.
Also featuring in the opening programme will be East India Youth, The Gloaming, The Clameens/Slow Skies and one of the biggest stars of this summer, Hozier.
In Programme 3, Indie rockers Mojo Gogo from South West Donegal will be sharing the stage with George Ezra, Colm Mac Con Iomaire (The Frames) and other great acts.
Donegal four-piece Mojo Gogo’s star has continuingly risen since the band first won the Arthur Guinness Play On The Day Competition in 2011.

Foy Vance.

Although he is not a Donegal man Foy Vance has close connections to Donegal and viewers in the county will view Programme 5 on April 27 with great interest when he appears he appears alongside Ásgeir , Bell X1, Cavan singer Lisa O’Neill and Other Creatures/Silences.
Foy works closely with well-known producer and Lifford native Michael Keeney and has recently recorded a lot of his work at Villagers guitarist and co-producer Tommy McLaughlin’s fantastic studio, Attic Audio, in Termon.

Series 12 began shooting last December in its spiritual home of St James’ Church, Dingle, Co Kerry, and then headed North in February along that line of longitude that connects Dingle to Derry to set up shop for the second year in a row at The Glassworks, Derry.

Both of these locations; the Dingle Peninsula and the Foyleside City of Derry provide a beautiful visual backdrop for brilliant musical performances.
Over six weeks, presenter Aidan Gillen will take you on a musical trip with each programme featuring a compelling soundtrack of songs, conversations and unique acoustic performances.

Programme 1 on March 30 at 10.30pm will feature music and conversation with The Gloaming, William Doyle aka East India Youth, ‘Take Me To Church’ singer Hozier and newcomer Rosie Carney. In The IMRO Other Room are The Clameens and Slow Skies.
