The Donegal Schoolboys 2000 League Centre squad travel to the University of Limerick this week to compete in the prestigious SFAI U-14 Kennedy Cup.

The competition which started in 1976 was established so that the FAI underage International managers could view all the best players in the country over the course of a week. Since then the competition has grown and now has all 32 Divisional Leagues competing in 8 groups of 4 teams.

Over the years the league has been represented by many players who have gone on to play senior football including Conrad Logan (Leicester City), Carl McHugh (Bradford City), Jonathan Dunleavy (Cork City), Ciaran Gallagher, Barry McNamee (Derry City), Liam Martin (Sligo Rovers), Packie Mailey, Shaun Patton (Finn Harps) and Shane McGinty (Galway F.C.).

Donegal Schoolboys are in Group 6 and begin their campaign on Monday against Athlone Schoolboys at 6pm. This is followed by two further group games on Tuesday when they face Limerick & District at 12.30pm and Clare Schoolboys at 6pm.

The group winners will go forward to compete for the Kennedy Cup while the runners-up will compete for the Bowl competition. The remaining teams play-off for the Trophy and Shield competitions resulting in all counties being graded 1 to 32 which establishes a seeding for the following years competition.

Former Finn Harps player Eloka Asokuh is the Head Coach of the Donegal Schoolboys 2000 squad and is assisted by Joe Boyle (coach) Tommy Harkin (physio) and Brendan Carolan (Head of Delegation). The full squad is Joe Boyle, Luke Gavigan (Cappry Rovers), Corey Lee Bogan (Castlefin Celtic), Joe McGill (Convoy Arsenal), Keelin McGill (Fintown Harps), Peter McEniff, Jack Clarke, James Carolan, Jonah Serrinha (Bonagee United, Eoin O’Boyle, Alan Stephenson, Conor O’Donnell, Michael Gallagher (Letterkenny Rovers), Mark McAteer (Mulroy Academy), Daniel Ward (Dungloe Town), Matthew McKenna, Ronan McHugh (Donegal Town), Ryan Cunningham, Aaron Doherty, Lanty Molloy (St. Catherine’s).
