Donegal projects to benefit from €1.33 million funding announcement

TWENTY-TWO Donegal projects are set to benefit from funding of €1.33 million under the Community Centres Investment Fund.

The scheme is specifically for community centres and can provide capital funding up to €100,000 for some centres while smaller applications are capped at €25,000.

Typically grants can be used for refurbishment and improvements of existing community centres.

Pat the Cope Gallagher TD welcomed the announcement by Minister Dara Calleary of the 2025 funding.

He said community centres right across the county need financial support and assistance.

“These centres are costly to maintain and support throughout the year, yet they are key to the very heart of rural community life,” he said.

“This scheme aims to help communities’ upkeep and support their community asset and today is a welcome announcement from Minister Dara Calleary who has wasted no time since his appointment in approving these important grant allocations.

“This is a scheme that requires additional funding in the years ahead, as the scheme was under massive pressure due to the number of applications.”

Minister of State Marian Harkin also welcomed the allocation.

“This funding will enable groups to carry out important works and enhance the services they offer to people of all ages,” she said.
