THREE bloggers from Donegal have reached the final stages of the Blog Awards Ireland 2014. They are Donegal Wildlife for Best Eco / Green Blog, Game on Fashion for Best Fashion Blog and Trucker Turning Right for Best Humour Blog.

While Donegal failed to win Sunday’s All Ireland football final, there are still hopes for the local bloggers to scoop the All Ireland title in this year’s Blog Awards Ireland.

Organisers Lorna Sixsmith and Amanda Webb have described the standard of blogs in this year’s shortlist as ‘extremely high’ with the scoring amongst the finalists as extremely close. The winners of each of the 32 categories will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Westgrove Hotel in Clane on Saturday 4th October.

The categories are very varied with many of them showing the bloggers’ passion for their hobbies and interests. These include the categories of lifestyle, personal, parenting, photography craft, beauty, fashion, food and culture, with many bloggers spending considerable time perfecting their craft and sharing it with their readers.

Lorna Sixsmith, author of ‘Would You Marry A Farmer?’ says, “So many people blog for enjoyment and to write about their hobby or interest. In doing so, they connect with like-minded people and expand their network. Many bloggers, including myself, have increased their knowledge and confidence to such an extent that they have become published authors.”

Organisers say there are many outstanding business blogs where individuals and organisations provide their audiences with valuable information and well written content.
