DOCTORS are continuing to monitor Labour Senator Jimmy Harte on an hourly basis as he remains in a critical but stable condition in a Dublin hospital.
Senator Harte (55) was found unconscious in a Dublin street with life-threatening head injuries in the early hours of last Saturday morning.
According to a family member, the popular Letterkenny-based insurance broker remains in an induced coma at Beaumont Hospital, while tests are ongoing to establish the extent of damage caused.
“We were told he was going to be brought of out the coma on Monday, then Wednesday and that has now been put back to tomorrow (Friday). The fact is that there has been no change, good or bad, in his condition and we will not really no more until he comes out of the coma,” the family member said.
Senator Harte’s family are staying close to the hospital, should there be further developments in his condition.
The family released a brief statement earlier in the week.
“The Harte family are extremely grateful and thankful to the people of Donegal and throughout the country who have sent their messages of goodwill and support,” the statement read.
