A garda spokesperson said: “The substation is located along a very busy stretch of road at the top of Lurgybrack. It would be unusual to see any sort of activity in or around it at night time so we ask anybody who may have travelled by between those times and who had a dash cam to make the footage available to us if they recall having seen vehicles/people in or around the substation as they passed by.”

Anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area is urged to contact gardaí in Letterkenny on (074) 9167100.
