SEAMUS Coleman could be about to land a contract extension with Everton following a run of fine performances for the Merseyside club this season.

Coleman, who joined the Goodison Park club in January 2008 for £60,000 from Sligo Rovers, has a current deal which runs to 2015.

However, it is believed Everton manager David Moyes is keen on securing his services on a more long-term contract.

The Killybegs man was recently sidelined for a month with an ankle injury but returned to action in the come-from-behind win against Tottenham, setting up Steven Pienaar for the equalising goal before Nikica Jelavic sealed a dramatic win in stoppage time.

In all, Coleman has made 12 Premier League appearances for Everton this term, playing the full 90 minutes in ten of those outings.

The 24-year-old has also forced his way into Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni’s plans and has become something of a first-team regular over the course of the first few World Cup qualifiers.
Coleman’s representative, Hayden Evans, confirmed talks were ongoing with Everton and that he was hopeful of a successful conclusion.

“We have held positive talks with Everton and I am confident there will be a positive conclusion soon,” said Evans.
