It’s a huge weekend for the Bundoran GAA club as they prepare to face Loughinisland in the Ulster Intermediate Club Final at Owenbeg on Sunday.

Team captain Tommy Hourihane has been in fine form this year for the Realt na Mara men and he hopes they can beat the Down champions and create history.

“We’ve never been in this situation before and we can’t wait for it now. There are a few nerves starting to build as the week goes on,” said Hourihane.

“St Joseph’s (an amalgamation between Bundoran and Ballyshannon) would have played in a lot of big games, but this is Bundoran on our own and we’re looking to create our own little bit of history.

“I’ve been talking to people around the town over the last few weeks and it means a lot to them.

“Three of our lads – Mikey McEniff, Johnny Ward, and Adam Coyne – moved to Australia last year and they won’t be back, but there are a lot of other people that are coming home from England and further afield for it.

“Once you play for Bundoran, you’ll always have that attachment to the club. They’ll all be supporting us and cheering us on and we’ll need all the help we can get.”
