A Valentine’s Day Card Sample.

THIS week Zara McDaid’s Art Scene features a newly established personalised card-making business quickly making a name for itself.

Treasured Art is a handmade, personalised card-making business set up by Ramelton woman Monica Grier in 2013. Monica designs and creates a very broad range of cards from birthday cards, wedding cards, valentine’s day cards, cards for new born baby’s, to name but a few. I first came across Monica’s bespoke cards and framed gifts while scrolling through facebook when I came across her page ‘Treasured Art’.

I have always thought that there is something much more thoughtful and personal about receiving handmade cards and I was immediately excited to find this web page.
Since, I have ordered wedding cards from Treasured Art, supplying Monica with photos of the happy couple, where they met, dates or my friend’s favourite colour and I was amazed by the level of creativity, thought and skill that went into her creations.
Monica said she finds this exciting new business venture a great way of channelling her creativity. She graduated from Letterkenny Institute of Technology twenty years ago with a certificate in product design but admits it is only now that she is putting this valuable knowledge to use.

Treasured Art transpired over a cup of tea and a chat with her good friend Mags while discussing the effects of the recession and brainstorming business ideas to help pay the bills. After some research Monica found there was a niche in the market for modern, personalised cards that are unique and affordable.
She started paper crafting with just a few tools and began by making her handmade cards for her friends and family members. Very quickly by word of mouth Monica’s talent and skills began to be recognised and her new business idea started to blossom.

Monica said she is always on the lookout for new and exciting ideas in the crafting world and she dabbles in lots of different mediums and is always developing her skills. She loves the challenge of designing and creating something personal and unique and she gets great satisfaction when she sees the delight on people’s faces when they see her creations.

Monica’s creations are not only beautiful and unique but the finish and quality of the work is of a very high standard.
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching! If you are struggling to find a way to express your feelings for a loved one I would highly recommend you contact Monica at Treasured Art. I am thrilled to have found this ‘little piece of treasure’ and I look forward to seeing Monica’s business develop and grow. Monica can be found on facebook – search ‘Treasured Art’ and email- monicagrier71@gmail.com
