TWO local ladies are organising a ‘Fashion Swap’ in order to raise funds for a proposed Pieta House suicide and self-harm crisis centre in Donegal.

Aoibheann Walsh and designer Sinead McCahey are behind Fashion Swap LK which will be held at Aoibheann’s G & G beauty salon, Church Lane, on Sunday March 20.

Explaining how it works, Sinead said participants are being asked to drop off their quality, clean ‘preloved’ women’s clothing, shoes or accessories to either G&G or DNG Boyce Gallagher, Port Road, Letterkenny, by March 18.

In exchange you will get vouchers for each garment eligible for the swap – one voucher is worth €2.50. A maximum of 15 vouchers being given out on the day to each person.

On the day of the event, just come along and pay the €5 entry fee, browse the rails, try on clothing, find forgotten treasures, socialise and enjoy refreshments.

Once you find items that you love, bring them to the register where you can pay with your vouchers. But don’t worry, vouchers can also be purchased on the day, if you do not have any.

Designer, Zara Mc Daid, as well as local fashion bloggers The Fashion Chair, The Donegal Bride and The Red Dutchess are entering clothing into the event.

However, the organisers are currently looking for women aged 16-65 to drop in good quality, clean clothing for the swap, in return they will get vouchers to spend at the event.

They are also looking for local retailers to lend railings for the Saturday and Sunday and, of course, these will be returned on the Monday.

There will also be competitions running on the day along with nibbles, treats and fabulous macaroon tower which had been donated by Kerry’s Little Bakery.

“This is the first event of its kind to be held in Letterkenny and we really hope to raise much needed funds for Pieta House NW,” Sinead said.
“We also have a Facebook page ‘Fashion Swap LK’ which is showcasing some clothing, shoes and accessories which will be available at the event, and to give people an idea of what will be available on the day.”
