Speaking at Mass, Chief Celebrant Monsignor Kevin Gillespie said Ms McGlinchey was defined by her marriage, motherhood, grandmotherhood, friendships, and her strong sense of neighbourliness.

“With Michael McGlinchey, she made a home and everything that was done, be it work, raising the children, or building friendships with her good neighbours of so many years, it was all part and parcel of the same thing, of a heart that was beating with love, with respect, with the simplicity of simply being good to others and enjoying their goodness in return,” Monsignor Gillespie said.

Originally from Edeninfagh, Ms McGlinchey married her husband, Michael, in 1966.

After spending several years in Glasgow, the couple settled in Beechwood, where they made their home for the rest of their lives.

Mr McGlinchey involved his wife closely in his work, and she was known for her constant hospitality, welcoming workers at all hours with food and kindness, never seeing it as a burden but simply as part of her generous nature.

Monsignor Gillespie spoke of Ms McGlinchey’s deep love for her children.

“She encouraged them in life,” he said.

“She was absolutely thrilled when the grandchildren started to come along.

“Sometimes you can see that grandparents take an exceptional delight in their grandchildren, and that was true of Anne.

“But, in return, the grandchildren responded.”

Monsignor Gillespie said Ms McGlinchey had a simple spirit.

“She enjoyed simple things,” he said.

“And one thing that she and Michael enjoyed over the years was going to the bingo.

“The grandchildren enjoyed going too.”

Monsignor Gillespie described Ms McGlinchey as independent and a woman of great faith.

“Being raised where she was, in the glen of Glenties, it would be hard not to have deep faith,” he said.

“She had a simple faith, a love of the Mass, and a fidelity to it, a love of Our Lady and of the Sacred Heart teaching us of the love of Jesus, a love of the rosary, all of which she passed on to her children and her grandchildren.”

After Mass, burial took place in Conwal Cemetery.

Ms McGlinchey was predeceased by her loving husband, Michael in 2017 and baby daughter, Mary who died in infancy.

She will be forever loved and sadly missed by her heartbroken children, Michael Jr, Kathleen (Dermot), Bernie (Simon), Pauline (Shaun), grandchildren Michelle, Nicola, Oonagh, Kevin, Tina, Gary, Evan, Oran, Shea, Shaun, Rory McG, Rory G, Niall and greatgrandson Harry.

Sadly missed by her sister, Josephine Doherty and family, sister-in-law Kathleen Doherty and family, cousin-in-law, Mick Foy, great neighbours and friends.
