WATCH: International Women’s Day- Baker who now sells her goodies in dozens of venues across Donegal

A SUCCESSFUL baker who now sells her goodies in dozens of venues across Donegal has advised anyone in business to learn from all the mistakes you make.

The Purple Velvet journey started in June 2020 and now, their signature treats and deserts are among the most popular in the county.

Diane, the talented baker behind the successful brand, graduated from University in Liverpool with a degree in Home Economics.

She believes this qualification gave her all the skills she needed to explore baking, psychology of food and the mixology of flavours to create stunning and unique baked goods.

Diane also makes bespoke cakes for family celebrations, and most recently, she has opened a new coffee van in Ballyraine, Letterkenny where all her home baked goodies are also on sale.

When asked what advice she would give to another woman who is hoping to start up a new business, Diane said go for it but to be sure to learn from your mistakes.

“It is not going to be easy. There is going to be late late nights and early early mornings but as long as you approach everything you do with passion, you will absolutely love it.

“There’s going to be mistakes and you will make the wrong decisions but learn from them.

“You are going to have wins so celebrate them and enjoy every single minute.

“The business will go whatever way it wants to go but as long as you treat your customer right, that is the biggest thing.

“Put yourself in their shoes and always treat them how you would like to be treated,” said Diane.
