A YOUNG MAN who was before Letterkenny District Court on Monday charged with being abusive to nightclub door staff and gardaí during rally weekend has been ordered to make a donation to charity.
Christopher Cremin was charged with being intoxicated and using threatening and abusive language following the incident at Lower Main Street, Letterkenny, in the early hours of Sunday, June 22.
Garda Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that gardaí were on patrol at 1.05am when they encountered Cremin, who was intoxicated. He was being abusive to staff at a nightclub, he told the court.
Cremin, with an address of Ballyhesta, Carrignavar, Cork, had to be removed from the area, and was subsequently arrested and taken to Letterkenny Garda Station.
The court was told Cremin has no previous convictions of any relevance.
Solicitor Patsy Gallagher said his client was “a very educated man who was going on to do a PhD”. He asked the court to consider that his client make a donation to charity, to which Judge Éiteáin Cunningham agreed.
Judge Cunningham ordered Cremin to pay €250 to the Little Blues Heroes charity, adding that if he did so she would strike out the charges.
