A YOUNG Inishowen woman has been elected to the Fianna Fáil National Executive.
Róisín Bradley (19) from Buncrana was chosen by party members to represent them on the committee of 15 which represents grass-roots members on the Fianna Fáil Ard Comhairle (National Executive). The elections took place at the party’s Ard Fheis in Dublin at the weekend, which was attended by more than 3,000 party members. The event focussed on tackling the housing crisis, supporting people in mortgage debt, cutting the cost of child care for families, reducing the number of bills on householders and improving people’s access to quality health care.
Róisín, who is now the youngest member of the Ard Comhairle, is currently studying Law at Trinity College Dublin. She joined the party when she was just 16 and has been an active member of the PL O’Doherty Cumann, Donegal Ógra and the Wolfe Tone Cumann in Trinity.
Speaking following her election she commented, “The Ard Fheis has given me an immense amount of faith in the party. With less than a year to the next General Election, I am looking forward to working hard with our Uachtarán. I am excited to see what experiences my new role will bring, and to engage closely with the other Ard Chomhairle members.”
Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin said he’s looking forward to working closely with Róisín in the coming months as the party’s continues its renewal process heading into a general election. “I want to congratulate Róisín on her election to the Fianna Fáil Ard Comhairle, in what was a highly competitive race. Róisín will be a new, young face on the party’s governing council and I know she will bring great energy and fresh vision to the role,” Deputy Martin said.
