MAJOR work is underway at a brand new state of the art playground on Tory Island.
The works, which began early last week, will see the addition of a much needed upgraded playground for the busy Island.
The work on the playground has been in the pipeline for a number of years to cater for local children and also those visiting the island.
Local Cllr Michael McClafferty has welcomed the works.
He said the playground will be a ‘great asset to the island and the local residents’.
“I very much welcome the work that has commenced on Tory island this week – a much needed children’s play ground.
“A big thank you to Donegal County Council for funding this project and to the workmen who are doing the work on the project.
“It is greatly appreciated.
“It will be a great asset to have on the Island when it is completed.
“It’s very important that all of our islands and their culture is protected and have a proper range of facilities for generations to come,” said Cllr McClafferty.
Works on the playground is expected to be complete in the coming months.
