Work to get underway to replace 400m of old water mains in Letterkenny

MAJOR works will be carried out in the Glencar area of Letterkenny to reduce the number of water bursts in the town.

Uisce Éireann say crews will be arriving in Letterkenny in the coming weeks to deliver important improvements.

Close to 400m of old water mains will be replaced at The Grange, Letterkenny by autumn this year as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme.

Crews will be working along the L-1174, The Grange, Letterkenny from the Glencar Road junction to Fernhill Upper junction.

A road closure will be required to deliver these works safely. Diversion routes will be signposted, and Uisce Éireann say the community can be assured that local and emergency access will be maintained at all times.

Areas of work will be limited to short sections to minimise impact, and the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours’ notice prior to any planned interruptions.

Farrans Construction is carrying out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.

Uisce Éireann’s Patricia Lowry is looking forward to delivering the project for customers in Letterkenny.

“We are delighted to be prioritising investment in Donegal’s water network,” she said.

“The section of water mains in Letterkenny needs to be replaced in order to reduce bursts and safeguard water supply. Our crews will work diligently to complete these works as quickly as possible.

“We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient, and we will make every effort to minimise disruption to the local community. We thank the community for their patience and co-operation as these essential works progress”.
