UISCE ÉIREANN has confirmed that much needed work in the Bomany and New Mills areas of Letterkenny will begin in 2024.
In a statement, Uisce Éireann said the existing watermains in the areas are “undersized” and approved the replacement and upgrading of approximately 6km of mains.
This work comes after residents in the areas dealt with low-pressure and outages frequently throughout the past year.
Welcoming the positive news, Cllr Donal ‘Mandy’ Kelly said he is delighted for the residents.
“They have stated very clearly to me, in black and white, that the existing water mains are undersized.
“Uisce Éireann have approved the replacement and upgrading of approximately 6km of mains in these areas to resolve the low pressure issues that are being experienced by their customers.
“The works are approved for inclusion in the 2024 programme of works,” he said.
Despite having no timeline as of yet for 2024, Cllr Kelly said this is a “massive” step in the right direction.
“I can assure the people of New Mills and Bomany that I continue to keep as much pressure as possible on this to deliver and start these works straight after the work is completed in the Raymochy and Rossbracken areas of Manorcunningham.
“I want to thank all the residents in these areas for their continued support,” he said.
Works in Manorcunningham are to commence at the end of January/ beginning of February.
