Work to begin on installation of new traffic lights

MOTORISTS in Letterkenny are set to face further traffic delays at the busy Pole Star Roundabout as work begins on the installation of a new traffic lights system from next Monday, June 19.

Funding of €200,000 has been awarded for the completion of the project.

Donegal County Council say the work will take approximately ten weeks to complete with a target completion date in October.

The traffic light installation will be carried out outside the busy day time hours, from 7pm to 5.30am, beginning on Monday, June 19.

Traffic control measures will be in place with diversions.

The sequence of work will be as follows: Port Road Island Road Crossing; Ramelton Road Island Road Crossings; Central Island Road Crossing; Port Road Island Works; Ramelton Road Island Works; Neil T Blaney Road Island Works and the  Four Lane Road Works.
