Work ongoing to clear fallen trees on county’s roads

WORK is ongoing to clear fallen trees on roads across the county as weather conditions continue to cause havoc.

Earlier today Donegal County Council workers dealt with unstable trees that were about to fall on the R238 at Tooban. The road has now fully opened again.

A fallen tree is partially blocking the N3 between Rockfield National School and Beleek and the N56 Road at The Nick, Ardara and between Glenties/Ardara has trees down but both roads are passable with care.

The road at Toberslane, Carrigans (L8411) is blocked with a tree and ESB/Eircom wires down.

The Road between Ballyare Bridge and Milford is blocked at Tully Mountain due to a fallen tree and ESB power lines being down.

There is a tree hung on ESB wires on the L-2485-1 on the Knader Road in Ballyshannon and two trees have fallen, one at the L-20852 at Drumrooske Terrace and one on the Bank Walk, Donegal Town.

The Ards Friary Road is currently blocked with fallen trees as is the L-1123-1 Baltoney Road, Gortahork.

Meanwhile some roads have been cleared including the R259 Cruit and Mullaghduff road which was blocked earlier with trees down. Fallen trees have now been cleared from the Ardaghey road, Inver and the R238 at Cloghglass between Drumfries and Clonmany has reopened.

The R245 Carrigart to Milford Road is reopened to traffic but caution is required as there is still a lot of branches and debris on the road.
