A DONEGAL woman is to stand trial charged with a series of offences linked to an alleged fraud involving over £1 million while employed with a cross-community charity.
Wendy MacBean (60), of Railway Park, St Johnston, appeared at a preliminary enquiry at Derry Magistrates Court on Wednesday last.
MacBean is charged with 25 offences relating to fraud including that she did with intent to defraud and to the prejudice of Her Majesty the Queen and the Commissioners of Inland Revenue, deliver or cause to be delivered to an Inspector of Taxes and Inland Revenue, Charity and CASC returns, which contained false statements, namely that Foyle Youth and Community Association had received donations to the value of £1,009,367.80 and were thus entitled to £252,341.95 in Gift Aid.
The alleged offences occurred between October 27, 2017 and December 3, 2018.
MacBean is also charged with nine counts of fraud by false representation, nine counts of transferring criminal property and six charges of forgery.
It was accepted that there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.

She was released on bail on terms and conditions as specified by the court.
