Woman airlifted to hospital after fall

A WOMAN was airlifted from Altan Lough and is being treated at Letterkenny University Hospital for a number of injuries after falling while out walking on Wednesday.

Donegal Mountain Rescue Team responded to the incident East of Errigal on Wednesday morning concerning a member of a foreign walking group who had taken a serious fall, sustaining a lower limb fracture, wrist and facial injuries.

Sligo based Rescue 118 Rescue Helicopter was also tasked to assist in the incident.

A spokesperson for Donegal Mountain Rescue Team said: “The female casualty was successfully airlifted to Letterkenny University Hospital, where she is being treated for her injuries.

“The remaining walking group were assisted off the mountain by Donegal Mountain Rescue Team.”
