THE funeral will place on Sunday in Ballyshannon of the 73-year-old local woman who was fatally injured in a road traffic accident.
She is the fourth person to lose her life on Donegal roads this year.
Charlotte Naylar, a widow, died from the injuries she sustained in the accident after her car hit a ditch at Cloghore, near Ballyshannon, at about 10.20pm on Thursday night.
She was a former worker in the local post office and her untimely death has shocked the locality.
“She was a very well known and respected member of the local community,” one local told the Donegal News.
“Charlotte was a popular figure in the area when she worked in the post office,” he added.
She is survived by a son, George. Her body was taken to Sligo General Hospital for post mortem.
The road was closed for an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators after the accident and local diversions were in place for a time.
The funeral service took place yesterday in St Anne’s Church, Ballyshannon. Gardaí have asked for witnesses to contact Ballyshannon Garda Station on 071-9858530, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800-666-111 or any garda station.
Six people lost their lives on Donegal roads in 2013.
