Winning team are icons – Judge

The Louth-born judge congratulated the team on their success saying they were now icons in the county who can set a good example on the roads to encourage all young drivers to drive safely.

“These young heroes of County Donegal – the manager and the team are now icons within the county and will be talked about.

“They are an example to all people in the county. But I would like them to take under their belts to impress upon the people of County Donegal that to drive on the road is a privilege for which they have a license.

‘Both sides’

“The tragedy that can occur on both sides as a result of incidents on the roads – it’s a message I have tried to send out many, many times.

“Please encourage our youth to respect our roads and keep Donegal roads safe,” Judge O’Hagan said.

He told the court he had experienced the joy of Louth winning the All-Ireland for a solitary time in 1957.

“It’s a tremendously uplifting experience and makes everyone glow for a time while Sam is here,” he added.
