Wind warning issued as ex-hurricane Oscar approaches

A STATUS yellow wind warning has been issued for Donegal as ex-hurricane Oscar approaches. The warning, issued by Met Eireann, will be in place from 3pm this afternoon until midday tomorrow.

A Spokesperson for Met Eireann said: “Southerly winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65 km/h, gusts of 90 to 100 km/h later on Friday and Friday night in Atlantic coastal counties. It will be strongest on the coast.”

The entire west coast of the country is expected to be affected with warnings also issued for Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry.
