LETTERKENNY man Tom Giblin has raised a whopping €4,567 for local charities from his annual Christmas fundraiser.
Beginning his fundraising mission in the late 70s, Mr Giblin launched his Live Animal Nativity Stable for the first time in 2022.
Acquiring his first animal 14 years ago, little did he know what lay ahead.
From a miniature Shetland pony, to goats, pigs and donkeys, all that was left to add to the scene was a life size Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus.
Expressing his deepest gratitude to everyone who donated, Mr Giblin said your generosity and kindness truly makes a difference.
“A massive thank you also goes to all who helped out in any way – whether it was setting up, assisting on opening evening, managing social media, or dismantling everything after the season,” he said.
“Every effort, big or small, was deeply appreciated.”

This year’s fundraiser came with an unexpected twist as Storm Éowyn roared through, bringing fierce winds and heavy rain.
But amidst the chaos, a little miracle arrived.
“A baby goat was born right here at home to her proud parents, Dotty and Ozzo – who were both big players in the Nativity stable,” Mr Giblin said.
“Inspired by the storm that welcomed her, we named her Yowné (an anagram of Éowyn).
“We’re delighted to say that Yowné has already booked her spot in our Nativity stables for 2025!
“Thank you all once again for making this event so special.
“We can’t wait to see you all again next year.”
The money raised from this major fundraiser was equally shared across Tom’s chosen beneficiaries.
These included St Vincent De Paul Letterkenny, Children’s Hospital Crumlin/ Temple Street, Pieta House North West, Jack & Jill Foundation, Little Blue Heroes, Irish Wheelchair Association, Bumbleance Donegal, MS Ireland/ Donegal, Little Angels School, St. Bernadette’s Special School, Donegal Hospice, Donegal Down Syndrome, Blue Stack Special Needs Foundation, Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland Donegal branch, Donegal Donkey Sanctuary and Good and New Cancer Bus Letterkenny.
