EIGHT cars worth a staggering €200,000 will be handed over to golfers lucky enough to get a hole-in-one at the unlucky 13th hole at an upcoming charity event at Letterkenny Golf Club.

The unusual prizes are among many up for grabs at the sixth annual golf classic in aid of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin, Dublin, which will be held on Saturday, July 4.

While the chances of eight people getting a hole-in-one at the 13th sound slim, event organiser Fintan Houston points out that two people did it on the Barnhill course last year.

With a maximum of 71 entrants allowed, he feels there is every chance someone will one win of the brand new cars, sponsored by Highland Motors in Letterkenny.

It should be noted, however, that the competition is restricted to amateurs only – so no professionals or semi- pros allowed!

Mr Houston points out that the rest of the prizes aren’t bad either, they include three nights for two at the 5 Star Praia D’el Roy Marriott Golf and Beach Resort in Portugal, with flights, half-board accommodation, car hire and golf.

There is also a two night stay for four at the Marriot Forest of Arden Hotel and County Club in Birmingham as well as a set of tailor made Rocket Bladez HP Irons and White Smoke putter. All prizes are, of course, sponsored and all monies raised will go towards Crumlin Hospital. The sponsors are Highland Motors, Duffy Express Freight (DEF), FM Services Group, NorthFit and Greenes Shoes.

However, only 14 places are left, so anyone interested should contact Mr Houston as soon as possible on 0860488592.
