‘When others were isolating, I was falling in love’

SINGER and songwriter Maria McCormack is back with what she describes as her “first proper love song”.

‘How Sweet It Is’ is the third single from her upcoming new album, a long anticipated follow-up to her very successful 2019 debut offering ‘I Choose To Love’.

Maria, who provided support to Dubliner Damien Dempsey when he played in Gaoth Dobhair recently, is dedicating the song to her partner Frankie whom she met during the pandemic.

She said, “The new song is titled How Sweet It Is and is my first proper love song after I found true love in 2020.

“When everyone else was isolated, I was falling in love. This song is for Frankie.”

Maria’s previous single, Girl With Good Intentions, attracted huge critical acclaim and picked up airplay all over Ireland and the UK. She is hoping How Sweet It Is captures similar attention.

Revealing more detail about the song and those performing on it, Maria added, “I went into the studio with the incredible producer and engineer Billy Robinson in the Groove Shack, Ramelton.

“Featured musicians on the song are Mick McCarney on guitar, Romak Parol on drums, Pat Crowley on Hammon and Rhodes piano, Billy Robinson on bass, Sean McCarron on saxophone and Rachael McGettigan on harmonies.

“It is out on on all platforms on Sept 2.”
