THE Gaoth Dobhair based cancer support group Coiste Scaoil Saor Ó Ailse has just launched its new website this week, scaoilsaor.ie. Coiste Scaoil Saor Ó Ailse (Break free from Cancer) was set up to support the people of Gaoth Dobhair, Cloughaneely and the Rosses.
The website was built free of charge by Connell Gallagher in memory of his late father Den Seamus Eoin who died of cancer age 57 in 1987 and also his late mother Mary Chonaill.
Connell, who lives in Boston, Massachusetts, is the publisher of is the publisher of the Irish Emigrant which he established with his wife Siobhan in 1994.
He is the cousin of the group’s co-founder Freddie O’Donnell of Knockastoller who set up Coiste Scaoil Saor Ó Ailse with his good friend Aodán Ó Gallachóir of Lunniagh in July, 2013, to support people with cancer and their families in the area.
Freddie and Aodán are members of the Cancer Network Group of the Irish Cancer Society in Dublin and go to four national meetings a year and six regional meetings a year in Sligo.
