Donegal’s Zoe Whoriskey was upbeat following Saturday’s opener in Carn.
Whoriskey notched 1-1 in an all action display.
The match ended in defeat but Whoriskey felt the team had given a good account of themselves.
“I thought it was very good.
“It was our first game and we all have to start somewhere.
“I think the scoreline reflects that we are working hard and want to make it somewhere anyway.”
Whoriskey has been battling against most of her teammates on the club scene but the Burt star feels the group have come together nicely.
“It’s a bit different but we’re blending very well.
“Everyone is lovely so it’s a nice place to be.
“Training has been very good.
“We have coaches from every club which is great.
“We have been doing smart drills and you could see we were trying to work it into the games.”
Whoriskey is a Bioanalytical Science student in ATU Donegal and is delighted that the camogie pathway in the county now takes players to senior level.
“When we were minor, there was nowhere to go when you finished.
“Then you were just playing the same teams every year in the club.
“I’m so glad now that there is somewhere to go for young girls that they can keep going and keep improving, and hopefully it will just get better in years to come.”
