The hotel, which was owned by the Boyle Family for decades, is being sold by the receiver though local estate agents DNG Boyce Gallagher.

It comes just three weeks after the Ostan Gweedore, also formerly owned by the Boyle family, was put on the market with a guide price of €600,000 which includes six attached apartments.

Speaking to the Donegal News this week Mr Henry McCahey for the estate agents said the Sea View Hotel was in need of refurbishment. It is being sold by private trearty and while no closing date has been put on the sale, Mr McGahey hopes to have a sale concluded by the end of July.

The hotel is located on the main Derrybeg – Bunbeg road. It was originally constructed in 1958 and later extended in 1970, 1980 and 1996. The hotel was extensively refurbished in 2001 and 2003. The property comprises of a two storey hotel with single and two storey extensions to the rear.

Internally, the hotel provides 37 guest bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, lounge and public bar, two restaurants, night club venue, kitchen and various staff and office accommodation.

According to the brochure, the hotel is presented in a reasonable state of repair but does require refurbishment of guest bedrooms, urgrading of commerical kitchens and general maintenance and redecoration.

“The population is no longer there and it is a difficult market with rates on hotels a major issue at present. That said, there is great potential as it is situated on The Wild Atlantic Way,” Mr McGahey said.
