This week it can be revealed the company, with the help of Údarás na Gaeltachta, will open an additional facility in the business park due to growing demands.

The company, which has been in existence for 20 years, has become the market leader in food-to-packaging. A global organisation with its headquarters in London, the company has manufacturing capabilities in Ireland, South Korea and Malaysia.

The latest investment will see overall employment at the UK headquater-based Company increase from its current 156 employees to 200 people by 2020/2021.

Speaking to the Donegal News, a spokesperson for Údarás na Gaeltachta, said development was at an early stage but work on the new factory in the business park – formerly a tyre plant – is expected to be launched in six weeks’ time.

“RAP, with our assistance, invested in new machinery which is fairly substantial in size and because of this we wouldn’t have been able to house it in the current facility, and so we are upgrading and developing to an additional factory.

“The new facility will be housed in now vacant premises which were formerly a tyre factory and we’re hoping to officially launch the work in six weeks’ time at the start of October.”

The Údarás na Gaeltachta spokeserson said the latest move is a welcome one, particularly with the continued uncertainty around Brexit.

“Things are going very well. RAP has grown into an innovative market for food and packaging.

“People talk about world leaders, and with RAP a good corner of the English market is invested in Gaoth Dobhair and Donegal, which is significant in light of Brexit.

“The new facility and machinery will allow them to keep the contract on market, as well as to continue to develop. RAP is very in strong Research and Development, and this will continue.”
