Wedding of the Week: Aislinn and Alan’s picture-perfect Donegal wedding where North meets West

IN A picturesque celebration that perfectly united the North with the West, Aislinn from Belfast and Alan from Roundfort, Co. Mayo, tied the knot in the heart of Donegal.

With its breath-taking landscapes and midway location, Donegal was the ideal destination for the O’ Reilly’s dream wedding.

The couple’s wedding ceremony took place at the Holy Cross Chapel in Dunfanaghy.

The day was meticulously planned, and the couple chose to capture their special moments against the stunning backdrops of Killahoey Beach and Patsy Dan’s Bar in Dunfanaghy, with the majestic Errigal mountain in Gweedore framing their photographs.

For their reception, Aislinn and Alan selected the enchanting An Chúirt Hotel, a venue that won their hearts from the moment they viewed it.

“From the moment we stepped foot in An Chúirt Hotel we knew it was the perfect wedding venue for us,” Aislinn shared.

“It’s unique character, scenic backdrop, and outstanding staff were the main appeal. Both Francis and Martin, co-ordinated our wedding; two very gifted and talented managers who exuded professionalism, warmth and reassurance every step of the way.”

The reception was flawless, with every detail meticulously planned and executed. The couple and their guests were treated to exceptional food that became a talking point throughout the day.

With the sun setting over Errigal, the scene was nothing short of magical. The lively tunes of the Rockhill Ramblers kept the dance floor full all night, showcasing yet another brilliant Donegal talent.

Reflecting on their special day, Aislinn fondly recalls the memorable drive from Dunfanaghy to An Chúirt.

After a peaceful stroll along Killahoey Beach and a stop at their favourite pub Patsy Dan’s Bar, the couple enjoyed a relaxing journey through the stunning Donegal landscape, soaking in the beauty of their surroundings of their wedding day.

“We arrived at An Chúirt feeling like royalty,” Aislinn said.

“The staff from An Chúirt warmly welcomed us into the hotel with prosecco and open arms, the sun started to shine and we could hear the sound of our wonderful singers the Ward Sisters in the background.”

She added: “We will never forget the feeling of walking into An Chúirt and feeling nothing but pure love and happiness in the air.”

For Aislinn, Donegal has always been a place filled with cherished childhood memories.

Now, it holds an even more special place in her heart as the setting for her and Alan’s unforgettable wedding day.

Surrounded by their families and friends, the couple created a new set of memories that they will cherish for a lifetime.

“It truly was a wedding day of dreams for us in Donegal,” Aislinn said.

The beautiful moments of the day were captured by Lynn Wortley Photography, with stunning images set against the iconic landscapes of Killahoey Beach, Dunfanaghy, Patsy Dan’s Bar, and the road to Mount Errigal.
