A national snow and ice warning has been put in place from 11am today until 8pm tomorrow night. Widespread heavy and thundery showers throughout Wednesday and Thursday are to be expected. Hail, sleet and snow will make an appearance throughout the showers, leading to accumulations of ice on untreated surfaces.

Motorists are urged to take care on the county’s roads and leave plenty of time when travelling to your destination.

A wind warning has also been put in place for Donegal, as well as Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.

West to southwest winds will be veering west to northwest with average speeds of 50 to 60km/h, with gusts betweens 90 and 110km/h. Winds could be higher for a short time this evening along western coastal areas.
