Weather warning issued for rainfall

MET Eireann has issued a status yellow weather warning for Donegal with heavy rainfall expected from this afternoon.

The warning comes as ex-tropical storm Helene passes over the country. The forecaster said the warning is valid from 1pm this afternoon until 5am tomorrow morning.

They said: “There will be heavy rain at times this afternoon and tonight, with falls of 25 to 40 mm expected and a risk of local flooding.”

The weather warning also applies to counties Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.
