Weather to turn cold and frosty this week

FROST will clear quickly today leaving a dry day with low sunshine.

It will be fairly cold with highest afternoon temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees, in light to moderate north-easterly breezes.

Tonight will be cold and dry with a slight to sharp frost, along with some fog.

Lowest temperatures of -3 to 2 degrees.

Tomorrow, frost and fog will clear from most areas quickly but may linger across part of Ulster.

Temperatures will be between 3 to 6 degrees generally, but staying colder where fog lingers with just light northeast or variable winds.

A spokesperson for Met Éireann said: “Widespread frost and ice is expected on Tuesday night with areas of fog also. Lowest temperatures of -3 to 0 degrees in light and variable winds.

“Mist and fog will be stubborn to clear from many areas on Wednesday with frost lingering. In regions where mist and fog lifts sunny spells will develop. Highest temperatures generally ranging from 0 to 3 degrees. Another cold and frosty night is expected on Wednesday night with widespread fog. Lowest temperatures of -3 to 0 degrees with light winds.”
