Weather: Chilly day ahead with mix of hail and sleet 

TODAY will be chilly with widespread showers, some turning wintery with hail and sleet.

Snow showers are also possible at times today, but will mainly be confined to higher ground.

Highest temperatures of 3 to 5 degrees, but it will feel colder with an added wind chill from moderate to fresh northerly winds.

Cloud will increase overnight with further spells of showery rain, but it will stay cold.

Again, it’s likely some of those showers will turn wintry at times.

Frost and icy patches are also expected to develop overnight with low of -3 to 2 degrees.
