WITH the ongoing drop in temperatures showing no sign of improvement, a new weather alert, this time for freezing rain, has been issued for Donegal.
Donegal County Council is advising of a potential weather alert with the possibility of freezing rain from 8am on Saturday, January 17.
The council is warning that roads could potentially be very slippy in the morning and the public are advised to take extra care.
“You should assume that no roads are ice free,” a council spokesperson added.
Meanwhile the council’s gritting service will be treating all designated routes tonight (Friday) from 8pm.
Met Éireann is forecasting more low temperatures for tonight.
Mist and fog patches will develop with frost and ice forming under clear skies. Lowest temperatures will range from -1 to +4 degrees with light, variable or southeasterly winds.
