Finn Harps 0 Waterford 4
Finn Harps ended with ten men and were handed a fourth league defeat on the trot as Waterford were deserving winners at Finn Park.
Waterford dominated proceedings from early on and after 25 minutes they found the back of the net as Niall O’Keeffe’s cross was touched towards goal by Ronan Coughlan and Tim Hiemer had to make a great fingertip save to keep the ball from going in the far corner but Connor Parsons was first to the rebound to tap in.
They doubled their advantage five minutes later when Barry Baggley found Coughlan on the edge of the left side of the box and evading a sliding tackle, Coughlan curled the ball into the bottom right corner of the net.
Waterford hit the crossbar through a Coughlan header that deflected off a Harps defender, while at the other end the hosts never threatened Paul Martin in the first half, 2-0 at the break.
And despite Finn Harps threatening early in the second half with Sean O’Donnell going close from a header after good work on the right from Séamas Keogh, they went down to ten men on the 56th minute as Daithi McCallion was shown a second yellow for a foul on Shane Griffin on the edge of the box.
And with the man advantage, Waterford found their third just after the hour mark as Dean McMenamy unleashed a thunderous strike from nearly 25 yards out that found the top corner.
And it got worse when Caoimhin Porter was judged to have fouled Parsons in the box and Coughlan sent Hiemer the wrong way from the penalty spot with 15 minutes to go.
The result keeps Finn Harps ninth in the table as Keith Long’s Waterford stay second.
