VW most popular new car in Donegal last month

THERE were more second hand cars licensed in Donegal during the month of August than new ones according to the latest figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

The CSO figures reveal that 298 imported second hand cars were licensed for the first time in the county. A total of142 new cars were licensed.

Toyota cars were the most popular imported make with 47 followed by Ford with 46 and Volkswagen with 37 cars licensed.

Of the 142 new cars, VW was the most popular with 26 followed by Toyota with 18, Kia with 11 and Hyundai with 10.

The licensing figures refer to vehicles taxed for road use only and classified by taxation class.

The statistics are based on data supplied by the Driver and Vehicle Computer Services Division of the Department of Transport Tourism and Sport.
