A call has been made for volunteers to come on board at Lifford Old Courthouse as they look to add to their roster for the local meals on wheels service.
Operating out of the Courthouse, the service covers Lifford, Ballindrait, Raphoe, Castlefin and Porthall, supplying much-needed meals to those in need.
Manager at Old Lifford Courthouse Gillian Graham said: “At the moment, we have a volunteer staff of five, covering a fairly wide area consisting of forty-six clients. We cover Lifford every day with the other areas covered a certain amount of days a week. I would deliver some meals myself, as would my daughter and parents. When required, a member of staff at the Courthouse would be also despatched to help out. I don’t know why, but it can be difficult to get volunteers.
“Ideally, we would benefit from having at least two more people in the delivery team to assist in covering all our clients. A fuel voucher is available for volunteers. If people can spare an hour or two and would like to make a difference to those in the community in need, then get in touch.”
Anyone wishing to volunteer or get more information can do so my emailing liffordoldcourthouse@gmail.com or by calling (+353) 74 9141733.
