A transmission fault cut short singer Sinead Black’s big moment in the Glor Tíre spotlight but viewers will get to see it tomorrow night.
The Letterkenny woman was in Dublin on Tuesday for the grand final of TG4’s hit country music show. But just as she launched into her song her performance was cut short for viewers at home.
Sinead finished runner-up in the contest with the winning trophy going to Paschal McAnenly from County Tyrone.
As her final song Sinead had selected the poignant number ‘Beyond the Rainbow’s End’ in memory of her friend Mick Roughan who passed away in July. Speaking on Wednesday as she began her journey home to Donegal, she said that while she was disappointed the public did not get to hear her song in its entirety, she was still happy to be able to dedicate to her late pal.
“I lost a dear friend earlier this year and what it has taught me is to embrace and enjoy every moment,” said Sinead.
“The song I did, Beyond the Rainbow’s End, carries such a meaning and purpose for me. Obviously I’m disappointed that people didn’t get to see my full performance but knowing Mick it was probably a sign from him because he was such craic.”
Sinead said that throughout her time on Glor Tíre her goal was always to do her county proud.
“I loved the experience and I was delighted to be able to represent my county, that was central to every one of my performances. I’m from Donegal, the dress was made in Donegal, the jewellery came from Donegal, it is all I wanted, to be a proud Donegal woman.”
Looking ahead the singer says she intends to record a CD with her dad Alex. The pair teamed up over lockdown to perform a series of concerts together. She also has plans to record a professional solo album.
“Those are the goals, to record a CD with dad, do a solo album and just get my voice out there as much as possible,” she added.
The Glor Tíre final is repeated this Saturday night at 8.45pm on TG4 and Sinead Black’s full performance will be screened then. You though can watch it here: https://www.facebook.com/sineadblackmusic/videos/361925501770549
