VOTERS on the Donegal islands went to the poll this morning for the local and European elections.

In the video below is Nancy Sharkey, Polling Officer, preparing the Gola Islands polling station for early voters.

The remainder of the county goes to the polls on Friday. Polls open at 7am and will close at 10pm.

Sorting of votes begins on Saturday and early count results are expected from the five count centres early on Sunday.
