Veteran Brown ready for another final

DAVID Brown is firmly in veteran territory now but he is still enjoying his rugby and is eyeing up another Gordon West Cup medal.

Brown, who usually plays in the back row, is now 38 and has been a great servant to Letterkenny down through the years.

He admits that he did consider riding off into the sunset last year when the team clinched the Gordon West Cup.

However, the lure of the oval ball and the craic at Dave Gallaher Park enticed him back and he’s more than content with his decision.

“The thought did cross my mind to be honest.

“Three or four of the boys who I would have played with for a long time decided to call it a day, and I’m nearly left on my own as the oldest man now.

“But I love it and love playing with the team.

“As long as I can offer something and I’m not holding back the team then I will keep playing.

“For me, you’re always looking to leave the club and the jersey in a better place than when you started.”
